malignant是形容词，源自拉丁语malignus，意思是邪恶的、有害的、凶险的。可指病理上对人体有害或有害健康的物质或状态、不利的事物。
1. Malignant tumor 是指病理上较凶险的肿瘤。肿瘤可进一步分为恶性肿瘤Malignant Tumor和良性肿瘤Benign Tumor，恶性肿瘤具有游离性增生，易播散，危害较大，因而恶性肿瘤的防治和治疗具有重要的意义；
2. Malignant hypertension 是指收缩压超过180mmHg或舒张压超过110mmHg的高血压，是一种重度的高血压，细胞损伤性及弥漫性，是心血管系统急性疾病，患者的身体状况及心理状态均可受到影响，因而治疗起来较困难；
